The living room is the place where we lounge by ourselves when we want to watch TV alone or read our favorite book. It is also the place where we expend quality time with the family. It is where we play games with friends and do sing-songs. We even have tea or coffee with guests in this room. A very busy room indeed! And before I forget, the living room also becomes the visitor room when we have some people resting over or if we do not have a guest or an extra room. With all these activities going on in this room, we cannot avoid having so much mess in it. One of our worst nightmares is to see our living room so dirty that we feel like we wanted to freak out. Of course, if we do not want this to happen, we need to give this room a regular cleaning.

The floor should be swept or vacuumed. Reach out to the corners to avoid dust from piling in those spots. Mopping or polishing the floor can be done once a week. Living Room Furniture should be dusted after every activity such as eating, playing games, and sleeping over. Aside from the basic dusting, you should also vacuum your furniture to effectively get the dirt out from areas that is hard to reach with the duster. Use the brush attachment of the vacuum ensuring that the bristles are not too hard so as not to destroy your furniture especially the sofa. The corners and areas with small openings should be cleaned to get small items out such as crumbs and hair that might have stuck in them.

Some cleaning formulas have chemicals which may tarnish and destroy the material of your furniture. They may wash the colors out of your furniture and make them look faded and old. Most furniture comes with a protective outer coating that shields the furniture from harmful elements like too much heat and invasion of fluids. If you use strong chemicals on your furniture, this protective layer can be destroyed thus allowing foreign materials to create further damage. Steam cleaning may be efficient in removing dirt and stains on your furniture but if you want your furniture to last longer, I suggest not doing this. Steam may be trapped in the sofa which can lead to mildew and growth of bacteria and finally destroying your couch. Spills need not be a big problem for you. Get a rag and gently dab it from the outside to the inside of the spill. Do not wipe it harshly in various directions as this will cause the fluid to spread and may stain your furniture permanently.

Soap cleaning like steam cleaning may leave your furniture soaked. To prevent this from happening make sure that you only use a small amount of this mixture. Ensure that the rag is not wet or too moist and that bubbles will not be left on your furniture. Use warm water for this is more effective in removing stains and spills. Hot water is a no-no because it can destroy your furniture's material and protective coating. Effective cleaning of your living room furniture only requires you to be more systematic and to have the appropriate cleaning items. Some furniture needs special ways of cleaning. Check their manuals to see how it should be done.
